Thousands of Protesters Pack New York City's Times Square to Support Mueller Investigation

Thousands of protesters joined rallies in cities across the United States on Thursday, November 8, to demand that President Donald Trump not interfere with an investigation into Russian meddling with the 2016 election.

In New York City, around 6,000 people marched from Times Square to Union Square, chanting slogans including “Hands off Mueller” and “Nobody’s above the law” and holding signs that said “Truth Must Triumph” and “Repeal, Replace Trump.”

The nationwide protests were organised after Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigned on Wednesday, November 7, and the White House announced his chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker, would become the acting Attorney General. Sessions had recused himself overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation while Whitaker has previously called for a scaling back of the probe.
