Timelapse video captured a mesmerizing formation of wavelike clouds rolling over Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Sunday, June 26.
The rare event is known as asperitas cloud formation and is defined by “wave-like structures” on the underside of clouds, according to the International Cloud Atlas.
Storm chaser Matt Ley shared this video to Twitter and told Storyful the video was recorded over approximately 30 minutes.
Ley described the spectacle as “a rough ocean surface rippling across the sky.”
