Timelapse Footage Shows Wildfire Spread Under Nest of Endangered Stork

A camera set up to monitor the nest of an endangered oriental white stork in Russia recorded a dramatic scene recently, as a wildfire burned across ground underneath the nest.

The camera is run by the World Wildlife Fund in Russia, and used by scientists to monitor the storks.

The footage shows the nest against the backdrop of a spreading fire as it burns the entire area under the nest. On a happier note, the footage extends into May 13, to show chicks having hatched in the nest. Credit: WWF-Russia/AmurSEU via Storyful
