A baby humpback whale and a young hammerhead shark were caught in nets off the Gold Coast of Australia in early October, as seen in videos recorded by the Humane Society International (HSI).
The HSI said that they alerted their rescue and response team to the humpback whale and that it had been freed.
The hammerhead drowned and died, the HSI said.
The HSI said in a press release that an amendment to the Queensland Fisheries Act would implement exclusion zones around shark-control equipment, effectively preventing them from recording images like these in the future. Credit: HSI/AMCS/N McLachlan via Storyful
