THE Cebu City Legal Office (CCLO) has given the village chief of Barangay Cogon Ramos 24 hours to explain why he allowed the release of the honorarium of a barangay tanod while he was in jail.
City Attorney Rey Gealon issued Wednesday, July 22, 2020, a show cause order to Barangay Captain Omar Durano, who risks facing administrative and criminal cases over the release of the honorarium of barangay peace and safety officer Mario Jimenez.
Others asked to explain were Kagawad Ma. Elena Cayetano and Barangay Treasurer Vicente Fajardo.
Jimenez was imprisoned at the Cebu City Jail from May 2018 to March 2019. But he allegedly received his honorarium as tanod from June to September 2018.
Gealon said they have the documents to prove this.
He said it was not possible for Jimenez to work as tanod while he was in jail.
Failure to explain could lead to the filing of administrative charges of dishonesty and misconduct in office, as well as criminal charges of violation of Republic Act 3019, or Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. (PAC)
