Visayan Electric restores power to 56% of affected consumers in Metro Cebu

THE Visayan Electric Company said that as of 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 that it had been able to restore power to 56.88 percent or 269,747 out of its 474,182 affected customers within its franchise areas.

In its 12 p.m. reenergization updates posted on its Facebook page, Visayan Electric said power was restored in portions of Barangays Yati, Tayud, Poblacion and Jubay in Liloan; and portions of Barangay Cansaga, Lamac, Casili and Tugbungan in Consolacion in northern Cebu.

In Mandaue City, power was restored in portions of G. Ouano Street, Mantawi Road, North Reclamation Area, M. Logarta Street, H. Abellana Street in Barangay Canduman, ML Quezon Street, Plaridel Street, 7th Street in Doña Rosario Village, Labogon and Purok 3 in Tingub, and portions of Barangays Opao, Subangdaku, Jagobiao, and Casili.

Visayan Electric had targeted to reenergize 30 percent or 142,255 of its consumers by December 31, 2021 and 80 percent or 379,346 of its consumers by January 10. Both targets were not met by the power distributor.

As of 12 p.m. December 31, power was restored to only 27.49 percent or 130,371 consumers of Visayan Electric, and as of 12 p.m. January 10, Visayan Electric had restored power supply to only 50.84 percent or 241,121 of its 474,182 consumers.

Visayan Electric promised to reenergize 100 percent or 474,182 of its affected consumers by January 31, 2022.

Visayan Electric's franchise area comprises cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, and Naga, and four municipalities of Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla, and San Fernando. (KAL)
