Dr. Helen V. Madamba, VSMMC Covid-19 chief implementer, and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, under the leadership of Dr. Grace N. Melchor, have been selected awardees for the Gawad Bayaning Kalusugan (GBK) in the individual and team categories.

The management of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) assured that the medical center "shall never sit on its laurels. Instead, this recognition shall motivate us to do better as we always believe that in providing quality healthcare services to the public, more needs to be done."

The GBK, sponsored by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Association of Allied Health Organization of the Nation, and HEAL Ph, is a "national search for the exemplary performance of frontliners in the health care and case management of Covid-19 patients," classified into two categories: individual and team.

This aims to pay tribute to the heroic and altruistic acts of frontliners in the time of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The GBK chose 12 individuals and 12 teams to be awarded. Out of the hundred entries submitted from all over the country, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) had a total of six nominees, two for the individual category and four for the team category. All nominees have undergone strict scrutiny by the board of judges.

On December 12, 2020, the GBK announced the finalists for the individual and team categories. / PR
