Wall-Art hands Sun & Rain first loss in Davies Paints Cup

Wall-Art handed Sun & Rain its first loss of the tournament as it prevailed, 87-76, in the final day of the elimination round in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Club 5th Davies Paints Cup at the University of San Carlos gym last Saturday, December 14, 2019.

The win propelled Wall-Art to the second seed in the playoffs with a 5-2 (win-loss) card. Although it ended up with a loss, Sun & Rain still kept the top spot at 6-1.

Big man Christopher Gayotin and crafty guard Ivan Dominguez scored 17 points each, with the latter adding eight rebounds and seven assists. Niel Tiempo and Jonas Panerio added 14 markers apiece.

In the other game of the evening, Megacryl outlasted Safe Track in overtime, 118-104. Former University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers standout Jett Latonio had an incredible outing as he completed a rare triple-double with 42 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists along with four blocked shots.

Big man Jessie Paradero added 24, Marben Rabuya scored 19 while Josephril Partosa and Ed Macasling put up 14 points apiece to help Megacryl nab the win.

The loss spoiled the 37-point outing of Safe Track’s Kim Rojas.
