Right of way, informal settlers cause delay of Mandaue drainage project

RIGHT of way and the number of informal settlers living within the three-meter easement zone of Mandae City’s major rivers are among the reasons why the comprehensive drainage project of the City government takes a longer time to finish.

Architect Marlo Ocleasa, head of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), said Friday, September 9, 2022, that the drainage plan might take a few more years to be fully implemented as the City Government also lacks funds to run the project.

Earlier, Ocleasa said the drainage plan might need at least 10 more years to become fully operational, stressing the project needs about P5 billion to push through, and the City Government can only fund at least P150 million of the budget. (HIC)
