Wearing of face mask in open spaces ‘non-obligatory’ in Cebu City

THE wearing of face masks in Cebu City is now "non-obligatory" after Mayor Michael Rama issued an executive order (EO) Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

During a press briefing, Rama said the high percentage of vaccination rate and the downward trend of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases are among the factors behind the issuance of the EO.

With the mayor's order, wearing of face mask within the jurisdiction of the city is now optional and would depend on the individual's “self-preservation.”

Rama said a multi-sectoral consultation was conducted before coming up with the decision to drop the mandatory wearing of face masks. (IRT)
