CEBU City Acting Mayor Michael Rama on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, said he has been unable to reach any of the members of the Labella family who could advise him on the current health condition of Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella.
He also tried to reach City Administrator Floro Casas Jr., but the latter was inaccessible.
“I’m sorry to let you know that I have not seen my mayor,” Rama said, in response to a question about Labella’s condition.
“We all are in the same boat. We have not seen and I have not talked to my mayor,” he said.

Casas, in a text message to SunStar Cebu, said he is under home quarantine because he was exposed to an individual who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Casas said his phone is always open. Failure to reach him could only mean that he has low or dead phone battery.
In a telephone interview, he said he was hopeful that Labella will report back to work by the first week of August.
He said he observed that Labella’s condition is improving. Based on what he saw on Monday, July 26, the mayor seemed to be “fit to work,” he said.
Casas said, however, that there has been no advice from the doctors yet.
“As what I have noticed the other day, Mayor is already okay. I think he’s ready to go home. But we all know, what we see is different from what the doctors see,” said Casas.
Once Labella goes back to work, he said a work-from-home setup might be arranged because of the rising Covid-19 cases in the city. (JJL)
