INVESTIGATORS at the Mambaling Police Station of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) are still clueless on the motive behind the murder of a female suspected drug pusher on Saturday morning, July 16, 2022.

The victim Jessa Mae dela Cruz Bitoon, also known as “Negra,” succumbed to gunshot wounds in her body.

Mambaling police chief Maj. Jonathan Beethoven Taneo said his office had received a phone call regarding a shooting incident in Sitio Bayotan, Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

When they arrived in the area, Bitoon was already lying dead.

Police learned from witnesses that Bitoon had been walking when she was shot by the suspect identified only as Jeffrey, who simply walked away after committing the crime.

Investigators will check if the murder was related to the victim’s activities involving illegal drugs.

They will also check Jeffrey’s background to see if he was also involved in illegal drugs.

Taneo said the shooting happened after they had conducted a foot patrol in the area.

Taneo revealed that they regularly conduct foot patrols in areas under their jurisdiction to prevent crime from happening.

Consolacion drug bust

An alleged former drug pusher in Toledo City who quit due to the campaign against illegal drugs during President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on Friday, July 15, in the town of Consolacion.

The drug bust yielded over a kilo of shabu worth P7.4 million from the suspect identified as Wennie delos Santos Chow, 63.

The operation was conducted by the Cebu Police Provincial Intelligence Unit in Barangay Poblacion Oriental. Operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Consolacion Police Station also joined the drug bust.

Chow, a resident of Barangay Subayon, Toledo City, had been placed under surveillance for a week before the drug bust happened.

The police officer who pretended to be a drug user negotiated with the suspect and they agreed to meet in Consolacion. The transaction was accomplished via text and call.

Chow was included in the priority list of drug personalities in Cebu province, police said.

The suspect will be facing a complaint for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022.
