A ROBBER ended up in the hospital after he was stabbed by his victim.

According to Staff Sergeant Ador Bacalso of the Mabolo Police Station, the investigator handling the case, the suspect, 22-year-old Dave Rojo Suson, followed Grace (not her real name) as she entered her boarding house on L. Tudtud St. in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City past 11 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Grace, a 35-year-old insurance manager, thought Suson also lived there so she didn’t mind him.

A few minutes after entering her room, she heard a knock on the door. When she opened it, it was Suson asking if she had a can opener. She said no. He asked if she had a knife. As soon as she handed it to him, Suson grabbed her by the neck and pushed her inside towards the bathroom.

Suson aimed the knife at her and declared a holdup.

“The suspect took the victim’s cellphone and P2,000 cash,” Bacalso said in Cebuano.

However, Suson didn’t count on Grace grabbing the knife from him. She quickly stabbed him in the thigh. A bloodied Suson fled the scene.

Barangay tanods who responded to her call for assistance started looking for the suspect. When they got to C. Mina St., some residents who were hanging out on the street told them they saw a man enter a parked multicab.

When the tanods checked inside, they found Suson lying on the passenger seat covered by an empty sack of cement.

The tanods turned Suson over to the Mabolo Police Station.

Bacalso said they brought the suspect to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for treatment on Sunday morning, September 18.

Grace was able to recover her cash, but her cellphone was nowhere to be found.

Police believed the suspect threw it away as he tried to escape.

Suson, a resident of Barangay Guba, Cebu City, remains in custody. He will be charged with robbery.
