As a shopping editor, I spend a good deal of my time thinking about, writing about, and searching out some of the most interesting and useful products on the internet.

I’m certainly prone to a little retail therapy now and then, though not everything that makes its way into my cart is necessarily the most practical (woven flats in March?). Others items fit the bill as being both useful and necessary additions to my work from home life, helping to make the days go by just a little easier.

Lululemon Align Short 8"

It’s been a strange month weather-wise here in Toronto, to the point that it sometimes makes getting dressed for another day at the virtual office a challenge. As a recent convert to Lululemon’s Align leggings, I figured I would give their new bike short version a try. They’ve since become a staple piece in my new transitional wardrobe, pairing with sweatshirts and hoodies for the perfect in-between season outfits. — Kate Mendonca, Shopping Editor

Ethradia Silicone Scalp Massager

I haven't dyed my hair in almost a year and even though there are greys showing, I'm trying to get my hair as healthy as possible. I've stopped blowdrying my hair, wear braids to bed and give myself a scalp massage with this silicone brush for at least five minutes every night. I also use this brush when I'm shampooing my hair to work in the product and exfoliate my scalp. It's only been two weeks (so about four shampoos) but I'm hoping that it will help stimulate hair growth, reduce buildup and help me get shiny, healthier hair! - Elizabeth Di Filippo, Lifestyle Editor

I chose this Garmin watch over a similar Fitbit (that I think actually LOOKS prettier than the Garmin) because Garmin's are so great for runners, and its corresponding app is fantastic for tracking your exercise — routes, pacing etc. The battery lasts way longer than I expected and it's really comfortable to wear. I even wear it to sleep! — Kirsty March, Finance Managing Editor

The idea here was definitely a "can't go anywhere, can't do anything" splurge to survive the pandemic....and even then, more of a gift to the family than something I expected to use daily, but I have been really impressed with how fast, easy and good coffee can be now. Instead of brewing a pot and chucking half out at the end of the day, I can make a quick cup in under a minute and be back at my desk in time for the next meeting. Perfect for that quick mid-afternoon hit of coffee, and so convenient now that the kitchen and the office are essentially the same place. — Noel Hulsman, Head of Media, Yahoo Canada

Prettycare Silicone Baking Mat Set

Sick of using parchment paper and/or oil when cooking or baking? Me too! These silicone mats replace traditional kitchen items that, while, necessary, can be pretty bad when it comes to creating extra waste. They come in a variety of sizes that easily fit on most baking sheets, and if you're more adventurous than I, they also apparently work great for freezing. — Hilary Hagerman, Lifestyle Managing Editor

I wouldn't necessary consider myself a sneakerhead, but the Air Force One 07's white/black combo can go with anything, really. They're among the most comfortable pairs of shoes I've ever owned, with their versatility, comfort and timeless look are among the reasons why these have been my best buy of the pandemic. Out of about 12 other pairs of shoes, and I'm certainly getting the most use out of them among my sneakers in rotation. - Arun Srinivasan, Yahoo Sports Editor

Philips PrecisionPerfect compact Precision Trimmer

In the name of transparency, I usually get my upper lip threaded, as well as my eyebrows. While I’m alright with letting my brows grow out, the upper lip situation had to be dealt with. I first heard about the Philips trimmer when I was watching U.K. journalist and beauty expert Sali Hughes' "In the Bathroom With" YouTube series with Caitlin Moran. They both said they love it, so I thought I’d give it a try. Growing up, I was told that doing anything but waxing or threading your facial hair makes it grow back faster and thicker, but I’ve been using it pretty consistently every six weeks (the same cadence I would get it done at a salon) and I haven’t really seen any changes in terms of hair growth or thickness. It definitely gets the job done quickly, leaving my skin really smooth, and it doesn't hurt at all. I may never actually go back to threading my upper lip. — Elisabetta Bianchini, Senior News Editor

I recently splurged on a designer handbag to celebrate my 30th birthday, but realized that its single storage compartment was easy to lose things in because it didn’t have any additional pockets or compartments. To remedy that, I ended up purchasing this felt purse organizer, which comes with seven interior pockets to store all the lip balm, snacks, and face masks I’ll need. — Kate Mendonca

Beakey 5 Piece Makeup Sponge Set - Amazon.

I've been applying my makeup with sponges for years, but certain brands can run you anywhere from $8 to $20 per sponge. After my dog stole and ate my previous sponge, I decided to check out Amazon for a more affordable alternative. Beaky's five piece set has more than 50,000 customer reviews to back them up and are significantly more affordable than my previous sponges. I've been using them for about three weeks and I actually like them better than the brand I was buying from the drug store! — Elizabeth Di Filippo

Joy Starter Kit

This new razor brought me....joy!
This new razor brought me....joy!

As someone who has been using the same crappy plastic razors for years, I was in desperate need of an upgrade. My coworker Kate actually turned me onto this brand — and I don't think I'll ever go back. I purchased the Starter Kit, which comes with two metal blades and a razor, and set me back only $12, and also signed up for a subscription where every three months I'll get four new blades delivered. The razor is a heavier weight than I'm used to with my usual plastic razor, and has a silicone grip so it doesn't go flying off to the corners of my shower. Shipping was super fast (literally arrived in my mail box the next day) and hassle-free, and I love how easy it is to pause or change delivery dates based on how often I feel like shaving. — Hilary Hagerman

Zoku Slush and Shake Maker

In typical Toronto fashion, the convenience store that was near my home is now a cannabis retailer, taking away my ability to treat myself to a slushie every once in a while. Trying to make a slushie in the blender never actually works properly, but this Zoku slush maker works like a dream. You keep the main component in the freezer and when you’re ready, pull it out, pour in your drink of choice (it does have to have sugar so Diet Coke doesn’t work in this), wait a few minutes, stir it around with the spoon and you have the perfect slushie! A great little treat while we’re all trying to stay at home as much as possible. — Elisabetta Bianchini

I put this coffeemaker on my watchlist on Amazon and probably looked at it a couple of times a month, wishing I could buy it after using one at a friend's house. On the one-year anniversary of lockdown I realized how ridiculous it was that I had wanted that coffeemaker ALL YEAR, and was scared of buying it even though I used to spend $40/week at Starbucks on my commute in to work. That would have been $2,080 at this point! I totally should have bought this last year. — Kirsty March
