The Department of Health (DOH) warned the public that 2019 could be a big year for dengue.

The health department said that there are already 55,976 cases and 227 deaths reported in the first quarter of 2019. This is a jump from the 31,247 cases and 168 deaths compared to the same period last year.

“It really seems we’re seeing a lot of cases this year. It’s the natural cycle. Two years with low cases, one year with high cases. It looks like this is that year,” the DOH said.

With the growing number of dengue cases, are you taking the necessary steps to avoid contracting the disease? Have your say in the poll and leave us a comment below.
