Yaw-Yan ArDigma holds summer clinic for kids

CLOSE to 100 youngsters will learn self-defense techniques straight from the formidable coaches from Yaw-Yan Ardigma Philippines and Muaythai Association of the Philippines on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Barangay Day-as Sports Complex in New Imus Road, Cebu City.

Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga Jr., a mixed-martial-arts patron and the founder of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Philippines, said that this summer grassroots program is his way of giving back to the community and helping the youth learn the discipline of martial arts.

The program which runs from April 18 to May 30 is supported by Barangay Captain Freddie Esmas and in cooperation with the Barangay Day-as Council and the barangay’s Sangguniang Kabataan.

Caniga, a barangay councilor in Day-as, said that they’re using the power of sports to prevent the youths from doing vices.

In his years in the MMA, Caniga has developed gems in the rough from the grassroots community and turned them into great fighters and winners in various meets like the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa), Batang Pinoy, Philippine National Games, among others.

For kids outside of Barangay Day-as, they can join a separate summer clinic which will be held at the Yaw-Yan Headquarter in Sanciangko Street, right across from the University of Cebu (UC) main campus.
