Yahoo Philippines rounds up the most searched female celebrities for 2020.

Ivana Alawi

It has been an action-packed year for the sexy actress and vlogger.

In February, Ivana signed with ABS-CBN. Amid the shutdown of the broadcast giant that caused a delay in the production of her upcoming TV series “Ang Lihim ni Ligaya,” Ivana remains loyal to her home network.

In May, she dispelled rumors about a supposed video scandal. Ivana denied that she was the woman in the video that went viral, saying that it was manipulated.

Despite being on lockdown, Ivana has done her part in giving back. She donated to several charities supporting families affected by the pandemic and recent typhoons. Through her platform, she urged her followers to “share the love” and do the same.

The social media star finished the year strong with another milestone. In November, she breached the 10 million subscribers mark on YouTube.

Sarah Geronimo

Pop princess Sarah Geronimo finally got her happy ending in 2020. Sarah and Matteo Guidicelli got married in an intimate ceremony at Victory Christian Fellowship church in Taguig City in February.

However, the otherwise happy occasion made headlines due to a scene caused by the bride’s mother. Mommy Divine allegedly crashed the reception in Shangri-La Fort and threw a fit during the dinner.

Things took a turn for the worse when they found out that it was Sarah’s bodyguard who informed Mommy Divine of their whereabouts. Matteo ended up allegedly punching the bodyguard for which a complaint was filed.

While the secret wedding ended in an unfortunate brawl, the young couple’s social media posts show that they are settling comfortably into married life.

Catriona Gray

Earlier this year, the former Ms. Universe was thrust into a controversy involving her ex-boyfriend Clint Bondad.

In July, just two months after Catriona confirmed her relationship with Sam Milby, Clint posted a series of cryptic social media posts that seemed to allude to the beauty queen and her new beau. The issue died down as quickly as started, with Catriona seemingly unbothered by the empty threats from her disgruntled ex.

A mere week later, Catriona found herself in another scandal – this time, about a fake topless photo of herself. The beauty queen, seeking the NBI’s help, went after the persons who leaked the nude photo online. She also demanded P10 million from a tabloid for causing “immeasurable damage” to her reputation by publishing the photo.

While her reign as Miss Universe has ended, she remains devoted to her many advocacies. Catriona urged her fans to donate to her fellow Bicolanos who were affected by the typhoons. In September, she was also named as the newest ambassador of the Philippine Red Cross.

Bea Alonzo

ABS-CBN’s drama princess has been extremely busy this lockdown – cooking meals for frontliners to express her gratitude for their efforts to fight the coronavirus.

But that didn’t stop her from teasing and appearing in a reunion project with long-time onscreen partner John Lloyd Cruz. Cathy Garcia-Molina, who is also the director behind their iconic films “One More Chance” and “A Second Chance,” helmed the romance-drama.

2021 will see a fresh start for the actress. In November, ABS-CBN confirmed that the actress parted ways with Star Magic, the talent agency that has handled her career for 19 years. Bea appointed industry veteran Shirley Kuan as her manager.

Son Ye Jin

The huge success of “Crash Landing on You” propelled the South Korean actress into international fame. The K-drama series which featured an unconventional love story between characters from North and South Korea dominated Netflix Philippines’ Top 10 list in March.

Ye Jin starred as the show’s female lead, a rich South Korean heiress who falls in love with a North Korean commission officer.

Ye Jin has starred in other K-drama romance hits such as “The Classic,” “Summer Scent,” “A Moment to Remember” and “April Snow.” In 2022, she is set to have her Hollywood debut opposite Sam Worthington in filmmaker Andrew Niccol's upcoming movie “The Cross.”

Vanessa Bryant

Millions of people around the world have taken to social media to express their disbelief and sadness over the tragic accident that took the life of the basketball icon Kobe Bryant.

While the world lost a sports legend, his wife Vanessa Bryant lost a loving husband and a kind daughter. Following her traumatic loss, Vanessa Bryant is manuvering her grief in public, while also caring for their three other daughters – Natalia, 17; Bianka, 3; and Capri, 1.

Vanessa’s love for her daughters and her Catholic faith serves as her pillars of strength as she grieves in this difficult time.

Nadine Lustre

The hearts of Jadine stans broke early this year as the on- and off-screen couple went their separate ways. In January, James Reid and Nadine Lustre confirmed their breakup, ending a four-year relationship. James and Nadine cited the need for “personal growth” as the cause of their breakup despite speculations of a third party being involved.

Hot on the heels of her breakup, Nadine announced that she had terminated her contract with Viva Entertainment which she accused of “taking advantage of young artists.”

The actress, who lost her brother to suicide, partnered with Mental Health PH for an awareness campaign in July. Nadine has always been open about her own struggle with depression. In her video message for the campaign she reminded her followers that “your emotions are valid.”

Nadine, speaking up about other issues, urged the public not to use “Filipino resiliency” to “hide the problem” following the onslaught of typhoons in Luzon in November. She also stressed that “our country deserves so much more than this.”

Kim Chiu

The Kapamilya actress landed on the news following an ambush on her car in March. While physically unharmed, Kim was shaken by the incident. She took offense at insinuations that she staged the attack. Clapping back, Kim argued that she would never endanger the lives of people she cared for, referring to her driver and her personal assistant who were with her in the car during the attack.

Kim also went viral this year for a statement she made on the ABS-CBN shutdown. Kim’s confusing and incoherent comparison of the law and classroom rules gave birth to memes following her “Bawal Lumabas” gaffe.

However, the Chinita Princess took this in stride and decided to capitalize from her blunder with “Bawal Lumabas” merchandise. Through her earnings, she donated 1,500 food packs to families affected by the coronavirus and P300,000 to a fundraising for mass testing set up by fellow actresses Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis.

Angel Locsin

2020 has been a trying year for Angel Locsin, but her supporters praise her for her grit.

In May, she received death threats after criticizing the Congress for their failure to renew ABS-CBN’s franchise. Despite earning the ire of the president’s supporters, the actress continues to voice her opinion on the government’s COVID-19 response and other relevant social issues.

In October, Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. “red-tagged” Angel, along with Liza Soberano and Catriona Gray, for their affiliation with women’s group Gabriela. Parlade also tagged Angel’s activist sister as an NPA. The Darna actress pushed back with an anti-redtagging campaign using the hashtag #YesToRedLipstick which gained the support of many celebrities.

The following month, Angel was also subject to body-shaming in a DepEd module that referred to her as “obese.” Earlier in the year, photos showing her curvier physique made rounds on social media. Seemingly unfazed by the negative comments on her body, she did not shy away from public appearances. Through her work in Philippine Red Cross, Angel is still a volunteer in the frontlines.

While Angel’s November wedding to producer Neil Arce was postponed due to the pandemic, the couple are happy to have something to look forward to in “a few months.”

KC Concepcion

KC has been out of the limelight since 2014 when she announced that she would be studying overseas. Since her return in 2019, fans of the showbiz royalty have been anticipating her return to the screen.

KC revealed in May one of the reasons preventing her comeback. The actress has been diagnosed with poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder that may affect a woman's overall health and appearance.

In September, KC revealed something from her past that also got people talking. Almost a decade after her very public breakup with actor Piolo Pascual, KC finally explained why it had to end that way. KC said she owed the truth to their fans. She wanted to be as honest to them as she could.

Addressing social media rumors, KC denied claims of a possible reconciliation, but said that Piolo knows that “[she] will always be watching him from afar.”
