Yahoo Philippines rounds up the most searched male celebrities for 2021.
10. Dingdong Dantes
Kapuso A-lister Dingdong Dantes was the talk of the town following the popularity of the Filipino adaptation of "Descendants of the Sun", which gained accolades in the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards as the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year. Dantes was consequently nominated as Best Drama Actor for his role as "Lucas Manalo" at the 34th PMPC Star Awards for Television.
The Kapuso actor was also loved by many on social media. On Instagram, he shares snippets of his family life with his wife Marian Rivera and their children, specifically their eldest daughter, Zia.
Dong has shown to be the supportive husband to his wife and Kapuso actress Marian Rivera, after she became part of the selection committee of the 70th Miss Universe Pageant, which was held in Israel on December 13.
Dong flew with Marian to Israel, where he became her photographer, and posted a photo of his wife on Instagram, stating that "I don't mind being this judge's water boy during tonight's preliminary event. #MarianXMissU."
9. Paulo Avelino
ABS CBN actor Paulo Avelino has been famous following his new drama "Marry Me, Marry You" with new Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez.
In a romcom TV series, Paulo and Janine portray Andrei and Camille, two persons with opposing personalities who come from entirely different backgrounds.
Paulo also made a buzz after his ex-girlfriend, LJ Reyes, admitted in an interview that he reached out to her following her split with Paolo Contis. The actress, currently in New York, has a son with Avelino named Aki. Paulo co-parents Aki with Reyes, where the actress said that he was "very attentive towards his son” and expressed empathy in his message during her breakup with Contis.
Avelino joined the list of Best Actor nominees for the 69th FAMAS awards.
8. Xian Lim
Filipino actor, model, singer, and host Xian Lim has made a big move in his career this year, leaving his home network ABS CBN for its rival GMA Network. The former Kapamilya star last appeared in the teleserye "Love Thy Woman" in September 2020.
The network switch announcement came in August after he confirmed that he would be part of the upcoming GMA teleserye "Love, Die, Repeat" with Kapuso actress Jennelyn Mercado. The filming of the series was put on hold following Mercado's pregnancy and will resume after she gives birth.
In November, it was announced that Lim is also set to star in a series with Glaiza De Castro called "False Positive". However, the filming of the new series has not yet begun.
The actor was also nominated for Best Actor in the 69th FAMAS awards.
7. Ji Chang-wook
Actor and singer Ji Chang-wook is the third Korean celebrity to make it on this year's list. The actor has been busy with multiple new projects this year, but was forced to halt them when he caught COVID-19 in July, making him one of the biggest names in the industry to be infected with the virus.
The Korean oppa was about to film the Netflix series "Annarasumanar" (The Sound Of Magic) when he fell ill and had to be treated in isolation. In August, the actor posted photos on Instagram of him hiking in the mountains with a face mask, confirming his recovery from the virus.
Chang-wook is also set to star in the new drama "Tell Me Your Wish" with Girls' Generation's Sooyoung. The drama began filming in September.
In November, the actor was spotted filming for "House of Wheel 3" as a guest alongside Jung Hae In. However, there are no details yet on when the episode will air.
6. Gerald Anderson
Filipino actor Gerald Anderson has been bathed in controversy since his messy and public breakup with Bea Alonzo in 2019, where rumors of him cheating on the actress with the much younger star, Julia Barretto, arose. Gerald finally admitted his relationship with Julia Barretto in an interview with Boy Abunda in March.
Gerald said he was guilty of "ghosting" Bea and their relationship, which earned the ire of netizens, with plenty of memes about the controversy once again popping up on social media.
In August, the actor admitted in another interview with Boy Abunda that Julia Barretto is "the one." He also said that he hopes that his ex-girlfriend Bea Alonzo "will find it in her heart to forgive what had happened."
5. Daniel Padilla
Filipino hearthrob Daniel Padilla has been famous in the country, and is in a love team with his current reel and real girlfriend, Kathryn Bernardo, dubbed "Kathniel".
In October, Daniel and Kathryn were in hot water as KathNiel fans threatened a boycott, urging the celebrity couple to speak up against Daniel's mother, Karla Estrada. She became the third nominee of a party-list that voted to reject the franchise renewal of ABS CBN, the pair's home network.
Daniel was also cast for a role in "Kun Maupay Man It Panahon" (Whether the Weather is Fine), which was lined up for the Metro Manila Film Festival. Daniel notably hushed his fans during the filming of the movie, reportedly "reminding them that this was their story and to please respect the people who had died, and everyone just fell silent".
4. Robin Padilla
Filipino action star Robin Padilla is once again one of the most-search male celebrities in the Philippines in 2021.
In October, the "Bad Boy" of Filipino cinema, who became popular for anti-hero roles in the early '90s, filed his certificate of candidacy as part of PDP-Laban's Senate slate. Robin campaigned for Duterte in 2016 and is currently allied with the Cusi faction, which is also backed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a recent viral video, Robin was seen serenading the candidates of Miss Sultan Kudarat. The action star sang "Wonderful Tonight" for the competition's finalists and gave each of them hand kisses.

3. Hyun Bin
South Korean actor Hyun Bin returned again this year as one of the most-searched male celebrities. Since the success of the series "Crash Landing on You" (CLOY), the Korean heartthrob's popularity has soared. In 2021, he became Tom Ford Beauty's new face, the first regional ambassador for LazMall, and a brand ambassador for Italian luxury brand Loro Piana.
Fans also eagerly await the release of his two new movies, "Bargaining, The Point Men" and "Confidential Assignment 2: International".
This year, though, what made the most noise is the news that he and fellow CLOY star Son Ye jin are dating. Fans of the series rejoiced at the announcement first revealed in January.
Last month, rumors of the celebrity couple getting married surfaced online. According to a report, the couple is liquidating assets to get married soon. Actor Coco Martin's run as the iconic Cardo Dalisay in "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano", first aired on the ABS CBN in 2015, rolls on in its sixth year. Coco also revealed that they want to include a guest star from Hollywood for the prime time drama in its latest season.
This year, Coco was spotted with actress Julia Montes on various occasions, including a vacation in Boracay, fueling rumors that the two are dating.

Famous Korean actor Lee Min-ho, most recently seen in the K-drama "The King: Eternal Monarch", had a busy year.
In late August, notorious gossip site Dispatch Korea, revealed in a story that the actor is in a relationship with former Momoland member Yeonwoo. Both agencies quickly denied this, dismissing the photographs as an outing with friends and that they're both just acquaintances.
Excitement also built up over Min-ho’s upcoming Apple TV+ series, Pachinko, to be released in 2022. Min-ho will take on an antagonist role for the first time in his 15-year career.
