Manila Chooks TM may not have come home with the result that they desired in the 2021 FIBA 3X3 World Tour Doha Masters but Cebuano forward Zach Huang feels that they have returned with lots of experience that will help them in upcoming competitions.

Manila Chooks TM finished their stint with a 1-1 (win-loss) record in the qualifying draw that included a stunning 21-20 win over hometown favorites, Doha. Huang said the experience was incredible for him and the rest of his teammates.

“It was a really great experience for me. I’m playing against the best 3x3 players in the world! I know I have a long way to go but will definitely enjoy the moment and not take it for granted,” said Huang, a former standout of Ateneo de Cebu before moving on to the University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP and Cebu-Casino Ethyl Alcohol in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

Huang said their come-from-behind win over Doha was indeed special as they leaned on their indomitable will and trust in each other to overcome their gigantic opponents.

“Puso! Puso nagdadala namin sa game ngayon. Kahit bad start yung team, hindi kami nag give up sa team. Nagtiwala pa rin kami with each other and we proved that we belong on the world stage,” shared the 6-foot-2 cager.

Huang said the big height and heft disparity forced them to improvise, constantly taking two-point shots rather than going inside.

“It’s a challenge kasi bibigay mo talaga yung loob eh. Pero kung one point naman yung butas tapos two points naman yung game plan, may chance kami. Puso lang talaga tsaka tiwala sa mga teammates,” added Huang. (JNP)
