11 May – It was reported that Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has been chosen as one of this year's juries at the Cannes International Film Festival.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the actress joins French actor Ludivine Sagnier, Rio Film Festival director, Ilda Santiago and Spanish producer, distributor and exhibition player Enrique Gonzalez Macho as juries for the Un Certain Regard section of the festival.
Introduced in 1978 by Gilles Jacob, the Un Certain Regard runs annually at the salle Debussy, and parallels the competition for the Palme d'Or.
Each year, the official selection presents a score of original and different works that emphasise all kind of visions and styles.
Last year, Michel Franco's Mexican drama film, "After Lucia" won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section.
Meanwhile, the Carina Lau-starring film, "Bends" has been selected as one of the films to be shown and compete for the coveted title.
